The uplifting new single blends Amapiano-inspired rhythms with catchy melodies made for road trips and late-night vibes

South African music producer Makwa has joined forces with rapper Kwesta and singer Boontle RSA for a new single titled iLanga, which translates to “The Sun”.
The track delivers an uplifting sound rooted in South African groove, mixing Amapiano-inspired beats with infectious melodies and feel-good energy.
Makwa’s energetic production drives the song, while Kwesta adds his signature lyrical flair and charisma. Boontle RSA’s smooth vocals bring warmth and emotion, giving the track an easy sing-along feel.
According to Virgin Music Group South Africa, iLanga is inspired by the power of music to bring people together.
“It celebrates the way music moves between clubs, festivals, parties, road trips and social spaces, connecting people through rhythm and joy,” the label said.
“It is a song about chasing the light, holding onto beautiful moments and letting the music carry you from night into sunrise.”
The release further cements Makwa’s place as one of the producers helping shape modern South African music. Known for blending storytelling with contemporary sounds, he continues to create music that feels authentic and relatable.
Makwa has also played a major role in some of Kwesta’s most successful tracks, including fan favourites “Spirit” and “Ngiyaz’fela Ngawe”.
iLanga is now available on all major streaming platforms.
