Letoya’s daughter makes bold debut on ‘The Makhenes’

Nubia Mangezi, the 19-year-old daughter of Letoya Makhene, made quite a bold debut on Mzansi Magic’s reality TV series The Makhenes during the second episode that played on Sunday, 19 April.

Nubia described herself as “a fun, outgoing person, intentional, and willing to experience things.”

When asked about her life with Letoya, she said, “Life with Letoya is calm, chilled, and mundane until it’s not. Then it’s just its own stress.”

The pair met up for lunch as Letoya “wanted an intimate, homely set up away from home because you know we have such a big family.”

The conversation begins with Letoya talking about her relocation, where she shares that she enjoys her independence and “loves being the mother of my own home.”

The former House of Zwide actress said she is rediscovering herself after feeling lost in her past relationship.

The relationship she refers to is her toxic marriage to Lebohang Keswa.

Nubia then mentions that they (Letoya’s kids) warned her about this relationship even before the abuse happened, adding that her mother chose to ignore the red flags.

“Everything about her past relationship was just sticky, even from the beginning,” said Nubia.

“I kind of distanced myself from my mom while she was in that relationship because it became very draining for everyone, even just how she was coping with it,” she added.

The mother of five said that although her marriage to Lebo was unhealthy, she accepts her role in it.

She ignored the multiple warning signs because she thought that since they were both women, they “wanted the same things.”

IS LETOYA’S TRYING TO FIND A FATHER FIGURE FOR HER KIDS?

Nubia expressed her feelings about the emotional toll that her mother’s love life has on her, as “my mom definitely rushes into love.”

She also said, “You went out of your way to give us a father figure.” Which Letoya refused to acknowledge, despite Nubia reminding her that she once encouraged them to refer to Kopano’s father as “dad.”

Nubia wrapped up by saying she’s “doing a lot of internal work” and has put up boundaries by asking her mother, “Can you not introduce us to them?”
