Chippa United fire third coach this season

The decision comes after Chippa United were beaten 3-1 by Sekhukhune United on Wednesday evening.

The result that left the Eastern Cape side with just two points from the relegation drop and three matches left for the season.

Chippa United has reportedly dismissed its third head coach, Vusumuzi Vilakazi, after 18 games, following the earlier departures of Sinethemba Badela (2 games) and Luc Eymael (7 games).

VUSUMUZI VILAKAZI LOSES HIS CHIPPA UNITED JOB

“Chippa United have sacked head coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi just hours after their 3-1 defeat to Sekhukhune United on Wednesday evening,” iDiski Times’ Sinethemba Makonco reported.

Before losing to Sekhukhune, the Chilli Boyz were hammered 5-1 by AmaZulu, raising fears that the team could still be dragged into the relegation playoff position.

The club currently sits 13th on the table with 24 points from 27 matches. While they remain outside the playoff spot for now, the gap is only two points, meaning every remaining fixture has now become a survival mission.

FINAL THREE FIXTURES

Chippa United final run of begins on 9 May with an away match against TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium at 15:00.

They then return home on 16 May to host Golden Arrows at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, also kicking off at 15:00.

The season finale of the campaign takes place on 23 May against Kaizer Chiefs at 15:00, which will be held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
