The Justice, Crime Prevention and Security (JCPS) Ministers will hold an urgent meeting today at the Union Buildings in Tshwane.
The high-level gathering will bring together all security cluster ministers and senior national security officials to address the recent surge in community protests regarding immigration and illegal residency.
A primary objective of the ministerial meeting is to finalise a comprehensive framework for South Africa’s national action plan.
This plan is designed to combat racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, and related intolerance, whilst simultaneously addressing wider challenges to domestic social cohesion.
Later in the afternoon, the ministers will hold talks with political parties, community groups, and various associations that have been organising the recent mass demonstrations.
These discussions aim to establish strict rules of engagement for future protests and outline the government’s strategic approach to managing illegal immigration.
