The family of murdered Mahikeng activist Thato Molosankwe has issued an urgent warning to the public regarding unauthorised fundraising scams exploiting his death.
In an official statement, family spokesperson and brother Leviticus Molosankwe made it clear that no GoFundMe campaigns or alternative crowdfunding initiatives have been approved or endorsed by the family.
The family emphasised that they will not tolerate the exploitation of Thato’s legacy for financial gain, stating that the current period should be a time for dignity rather than opportunistic behaviour.

Thato Molosankwe, a well-known traditionalist and anti-crime activist, was killed in the early hours of Wednesday, 20 May 2026, after unknown gunmen stormed his home in Lomanyaneng village, North West.
His assassination has shocked civil society across the province, with fellow activists raising serious concerns over their own personal security.
Although a night vigil was held over the weekend to honour the fallen activist, the perpetrators remain at large.
South African Police Service authorities have deployed specialised units and launched a widespread manhunt, but no arrests have been made at this stage.
