Synopsis
Shen Chuwei (Cecelia Sharples) suddenly realizes that her gentle, virtuous mother, Bai Ruyi (Rachel White) — once the perfect example of obedience and grace — has completely changed after waking up one day. Her mother claims that her soul transmigrated into this world, and that her real hometown is actually Northeast China.
She also tells Shen Chuwei that she is nothing more than the tragic legitimate daughter in a cliché ancient romance novel — a bullied original heroine destined to suffer. But Bai Ruyi refuses to accept that fate. She is determined to turn her daughter into the true leading lady of the story.
Shen Chuwei cannot fully understand any of it at first. Yet when her biased scumbag father tries to force her to hand over the royal engagement token to her scheming half-sister, Bai Ruyi lets out a cold laugh, grabs a wooden door bar, and snaps: “Our Northeastern girls don’t give up what’s ours.
