Abongwe Mseleku celebrates her AFDA film degree with emotional tributes to her parents, reflecting on her father’s health scare and her mother’s unwavering support.

Izingane Zes’thembu star Abongwe Mseleku is celebrating a major milestone after graduating with a degree in film production from AFDA in Johannesburg this past weekend.
The 21-year-old daughter of popular polygamist Musa Mseleku and MaCele shared snippets of her big day on social media, revealing that both her parents were overcome with emotion.

In a touching tribute to her mother, MaCele, Abongwe expressed gratitude for her unwavering support and prayers.
“This is for you, Mom. Suddenly, everything you’ve ever prayed for has come to fruition. Your love and support are unconditional, and what a blessing it is to fulfil your prayer. More than anything, I am filled with gratitude.
“You’ve been crying since the beginning of the month, and now we’re at the end and you’re still crying? You have no idea how happy I am to do this for you. Welcome to graduation, Ma.”
Honouring her father’s journey
Abongwe also dedicated the achievement to her father, reflecting on a difficult period when he suffered a stroke and she feared losing him.
“Two years ago, I cried terribly because I almost lost a huge part of me. I had to go back to school and act like nothing was wrong because life had to go on.
“I texted you almost every day just to make sure you were still okay. Two years later, I still cry, but now I cry with a smile and relief in my heart. Even after you said, ‘uzograduater ngikhona noma ngingekho’, the Lord had mercy and made sure you lived to see this day.”
More than just a reality TV star
Beyond her role on the family’s reality show, Abongwe is building her own path as a videographer, photographer, and digital content creator.
She is also a passionate cooking enthusiast and has collaborated with several local brands, including Knorrox, Rama, and Sasko.
