- Police have arrested the grandparents of missing Limpopo toddler Omphile Sethole on negligence charges.
- The two-year-old disappeared earlier this month while sleeping beside her grandmother, prompting police to open kidnapping and housebreaking cases.
- Authorities say Omphile is still missing as investigations continue under the Mokopane FCS Unit.
Police have arrested the grandparents of missing Limpopo toddler Omphile Sethole, who vanished without a trace several weeks ago.
The two-year-old disappeared earlier this month while sleeping next to her grandmother, and police are still searching for leads that could help locate her.
Police initially opened cases of housebreaking and kidnapping after the child’s grandmother reportedly discovered her missing at around 06:00, with a window in the room allegedly left open.
Her grandparents were arrested on charges of negligence and are expected to appear in court on Monday, 18 May 2026.
Limpopo police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba said members of the Mokopane Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit arrested the pair, aged 52 and 55, on Friday, 15 May.
Ledwaba confirmed that the child remains missing and that investigations have since been transferred to the Mokopane FCS Unit as efforts to find Omphile intensify.
