Yuan Xiangxiu, a warm and optimistic middle-aged woman who has devoted most of her life to her family, finds herself deeply troubled when her daughter-in-law, Wu Meili, schemes to arrange a business marriage for her son Zhao Pengcheng in pursuit of family利益. Determined to free her son from an unhappy union, Yuan Xiangxiu fabricates a lie about remarrying.
Jiang Shu, a calm and reserved father, is equally devoted to his daughter Jiang Xiaoguo. When she earns an opportunity to study abroad, he lies about planning to remarry as well, hoping to ease her worries and allow her to pursue her dreams without hesitation.
Fate brings Yuan Xiangxiu and Jiang Shu together. To maintain their well-intentioned lies, they agree to pretend to be a married couple, supporting each other through social pressures and life’s challenges. A year later, Yuan Xiangxiu takes a job as a cleaner at a company to make ends meet, unaware that Jiang Shu is the head of the company. As he fails to recognize her, they interact as strangers.
It is not until a company gathering that they reconnect and begin to see how much they have in common. A long-forgotten spark quietly rekindles. As they spend more time together, their bond deepens into genuine affection. Though their relationship began with deception, they find the courage to face their true feelings and confront the challenge of revealing the truth to their families. Together, they pursue a long-overdue happiness, illustrating the beauty and strength of love in middle age.
