Human remains were found aboard the Mayuree Naree cargo ship during a second search for three missing Thai crew members following the Strait of Hormuz attack on March 11.

The Iranian military attacked the Thai cargo ship after it left the United Arab Emirates for India on March 11, stating that the vessel had ignored a ban on travel through the strait during escalating conflict involving Israel and US coalition forces.

Precious Shipping maintained that it was in contact with relevant departments before the vessel travelled through the area.

During the attack, 20 Thai crew members survived and were later rescued by the Royal Navy of Oman. They returned safely to Thailand on March 15.

Three other crew members have remained missing since the day of the incident. They were reportedly working in the engine room, which was heavily damaged in the attack. The missing men were identified as Kiattisak Pawaphuchakae, Panupong Muentaen and Chawalit Chaiyawong.

Precious Shipping updated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on March 30, saying a specialist team had searched the entire vessel but found no trace of the three men. The company said at the time that efforts to locate them would continue and that updates would be provided to the families and the public.

Today, April 3, the company informed the ministry that a second search had been carried out and human body parts were found.

The discovery was made in a damaged section of the vessel while specialists were searching for the missing crew. The search team has not yet confirmed whether the remains belong to any of the missing crew members.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the company had already informed the families of the three missing crew members and added its condolences following the latest development.

The ministry also reiterated its call for all parties to engage in peaceful negotiations in accordance with international law, with a view to preventing the escalation of tensions.
