Eddie Jones is one of the most well-known coaches in world rugby, and he has been at the helm of the Japan national rugby team since last year.
The 66-year-old has been suspended for six weeks for “verbal abuse directed at local officials” during an Australian tour involving the Japan U23 team.
Jones will now miss four Japan games, including their Nations Championship opener against Italy in Tokyo in July. On top of the suspension, Jones’ salary has been cut.

The Japan Rugby Football Union have made the decision in accordance with their ethics and disciplinary regulations, and Jones issued an apology in response.
“I accept the disciplinary action of the JRFU relating to the U23 Japan National Team tour of Australia,” Jones said.
“Some inappropriate remarks that I made caused discomfort to local match officials and other related parties. I would like to offer my sincere apologies to everyone involved. I deeply regret my behaviour and words and will make every effort to ensure that this doesn’t happen again.”
