Former Operation Dudula president and co-founder Zandile Dabula has officially joined ActionSA.
The political party unveiled her on Friday as part of Herman Mashaba’s Campaign Governance Team ahead of the upcoming Johannesburg local government elections.
Dabula’s move follows her immediate resignation from Operation Dudula on 14 May 2026.
During a media briefing, she cited severe internal strife and ongoing challenges within the anti-illegal immigration movement as the core reasons for ending her leadership role in the organisation she helped establish.
ActionSA has confirmed that Dabula will contest the November 2026 local elections as its candidate for MMC for Human Settlements in Johannesburg. The party stated that her appointment directly aligns with its core policy positions on tightening border security, controlling immigration, and prioritising South African citizens for employment, housing, and public services.
Her formal alignment with ActionSA concludes weeks of intense speculation regarding her political future, which was sparked when photographs of Dabula alongside Mashaba circulated online. The high-profile transition marks a notable development in South Africa’s shifting political landscape ahead of the municipal polls.
