  • ActionSA has opened a corruption case against Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe over two luxury SUVs.
  • The party has simultaneously petitioned the Public Protector and Parliament’s Ethics Committee regarding potential code of conduct breaches.
  • While Tolashe claimed the vehicles were donated to the ANC Women’s League, the organisation has denied any record of the gift.

ActionSA has launched a formal legal and ethical offensive against Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe.

The party’s MP, Dereleen James, confirmed today that they have opened a criminal corruption case, alongside lodging complaints with both the Public Protector and Parliament’s Ethics Committee.

The dispute centres on two luxury BAIC X55 SUVs, valued at roughly R1 million each, which the Minister allegedly received from Chinese officials.

Tolashe previously informed Parliament that the vehicles were a donation to the ANC Women’s League (ANCWL), an organisation she currently leads.

However, both the ANC and the ANCWL have publicly distanced themselves from the donation, stating they have no record of receiving the cars.

Investigations suggest the vehicles may have instead been registered to or used by the Minister’s daughters, leading to accusations that she misled Parliament.

ActionSA has vowed to hold the Minister accountable, with James asserting that the party will not tolerate misconduct from a leader overseeing a department tasked with protecting the country’s most vulnerable citizens.
