- City Power has announced planned electricity interruptions across parts of Johannesburg between 1 and 7 June 2026.
- The outages form part of maintenance work aimed at improving network reliability and reducing unplanned power failures.
- Areas including Alexandra, the Johannesburg CBD, Randburg, Roodepoort and parts of Midrand are expected to be affected.
Johannesburg residents have been warned of planned power interruptions scheduled to take place between 1 June and 7 June 2026.
According to City Power, the planned outages form part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the electricity network and improve the reliability of supply across the city.
City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena said the maintenance work is aimed at ensuring that ageing infrastructure is serviced, faulty equipment is identified and replaced, and the risk of unplanned power outages is reduced.
“These maintenance activities also assist in protecting the network during periods of high demand, especially as colder weather conditions place additional pressure on electricity infrastructure.
Customers are advised to treat all electricity supply points as live at all times during the interruption period, as supply may be restored earlier than anticipated. Customers are also encouraged to unplug appliances during the interruption period to avoid possible damage when power is restored,” said Mangena.
The Alexandra Substation and surrounding areas will be affected on Monday, 1 June 2026.
On Tuesday, 2 June 2026, several areas in the Johannesburg CBD, Randburg and Roodepoort are expected to experience planned interruptions.
Areas surrounding Midrand are scheduled to be affected on Saturday, 6 June 2026.
Residents are encouraged to make the necessary preparations and consult City Power’s schedules for detailed information on affected areas and outage times.
