Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has officially unveiled his final 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Belgian tactician announced the selection on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, during a prestigious event at the Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guest House in Pretoria.
Broos was joined on stage by a powerful delegation, including South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie, and South African Football Association (SAFA) President Dr Danny Jordaan.
The global showpiece, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, is set to run from 11 June to 19 July 2026.
Highlighting the weight of the tournament, President Ramaphosa offered his passionate backing to the selected team.
“You will be our country’s ambassadors in the coming weeks.”
Before flying out to the tournament’s opening venue at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico, South Africa will play a final home farewell match against Nicaragua. The fixture is scheduled for Friday, 29 May 2026, at Orlando Stadium (Amstel Arena), with kick-off at 18:00.
SAFA has also confirmed that the team’s tournament preparations will continue abroad with a friendly match against Jamaica once they arrive in Mexico. This follows two crucial warm-up fixtures against Panama earlier this year in March.
