Synopsis
In her previous life, Su Xin rose step by step from a lowly palace maid to become Empress. Wei Congjie, the male lead, was a true eunuch then, and the two formed a secret “paired companionship.” However, on the very day of Su Xin’s coronation as Empress, they were exposed by Chancellor Zhou and his daughter for their forbidden relationship and were both executed.
After being reborn, Su Xin becomes a calculating and formidable “black lotus,” determined to rewrite her fate. She tries to prevent Wei Congjie from entering the palace as a eunuch, not knowing that in this life he is only disguising himself as one. Unwilling to repeat the tragic ending of their past, the two lovers each protect the other in their own way. Their relationship gradually develops from cautious testing to genuine alliance. During this time, Wei Congjie is imprisoned and tortured while protecting Su Xin. When she pleads for his life, she discovers his false eunuch identity, and he, in turn, confesses the truth about their rebirth.
In the end, they work together and use the Empress’s enthronement ceremony to turn Zhou Ruyun against her own family, exposing Chancellor Zhou’s treasonous collusion with the enemy. The Zhou family is brought to justice. Su Xin ultimately refuses the position of Empress and, together with Wei Congjie, asks the Emperor for permission to leave the palace. They finally marry and live together outside the palace.
