Two beer bar owners were injured after a homeless man threw stones at their motorbike in Pattaya yesterday, April 2, while they were riding home on Khao Phra Tamnak Road in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri.

Police from Pattaya City Police Station said they were called to the scene before the bend near the Pattaya Tourist Police point. Rescue volunteers from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya were also sent to assist.

Police found two injured beer bar owners at the scene. The first was 49 year old Preedee, who suffered a cut to the face and bruising. The second was 39 year old Sunisa, who suffered a facial wound with bleeding and swelling after the stone attack struck the pair while they were riding a motorbike home.

Rescue workers gave first aid before the injured pair travelled for further treatment on their own.

Police detained the suspected attacker at the scene and identified him as 29 year old Niran. Officers said the man, described as homeless, was shirtless, barefoot and wearing black shorts.

Niran appeared frightened as he apologised to the injured pair with a wai and reportedly told police he threw the stones because of financial stress.

The injured pair told police they were riding back to their accommodation when they saw the suspect standing by the roadside holding a stone. As they passed, he threw it at them, injuring both, although they managed to keep control of the motorbike and stop safely.

They said the suspect then tried to flee, but when one of the victims ran after him, he allegedly picked up another stone and threw it again.

A witness driving behind the victims told police the man had been standing shirtless at the roadside with stones in his hands and appeared to be targeting passing vehicles.

Siam Chon News reported that the witness said he stepped in to restrain the suspect until police arrived, after which officers took him into custody for legal action.

Elsewhere, police from Bang Na station detained a man accused of hurling concrete debris at vehicles in the Bang Na-Trat area, staging a reconstruction of the incident. The suspect, who has a history of similar actions, vowed to cease his behaviour.
